well, osaka was nice
but i prefer tokyo
we spent our last day there in the worlds largest aquarium
which was amazing
the tanks were so deep the fish had tons of space to swim
james loved the giant whale shark
and i liked the big school of sardines the best
we tried to go to the suntory museum after that, which had been in our guidebook
but it turns out it was closed down
so we just went back into town and wandered around some more
the next morning we checked out, went and got a coffee
(coffee with totoro latte art, best coffee ever!)
and then headed back to tokyo
we checked into the capital hotel, a super posh place that james picked out
that had a great view over the city
and the biggest bed we have ever slept in
it had a waterfall shower in the bath
and traditional ryokan screens separating the rooms
we were also able to get a dvd player so james could watch the jiu jitsu videos he had bought
for new years eve we had tickets along with james friend to go to the dream:fight for japan mixed martial arts tournament
it started around three, and lasted up until midnight
it was amazing! 17 matches in all, with the final fight a KO within minutes
we had the new years countdown there
which james has a video of somewhere i will try and post
then the boys headed out to a club and i headed back to the hotel
over new years holidays everything is closed
so new years day we slept in and went for a walk
apparently there was a 7.0 earthquake in the afternoon about 2.30
we were in the hotel getting ready to go out, and didnt feel a thing
we didnt even know about it until james read the news later!
but we got lunch and went walking, ended up taking the train to harajuku
where it was absolutely packed with people
then went to shibuya and headed home
tuesday we split up for the day
james went to shinjuku shopping and i went to ginza
were i got a great deal on a coach purse as everything was 50% off in sales :D
then we met back up to switch hotels and go out for dinner
the new hotel was in akasaka, the same neighbourhood but further south
so we walked to roppongi hills for dinner and checked out the buildings
then our final day we went to the fish market in the morning, and walked over towards tokyo bay to see the water
we took the train back to shinjuku to shop, then headed for akihabara for one last look before we called it a night
we did poke our heads in a maid cafe in attempt to get a coffee, but with a cover charge of 1,000yen per person
we decided against it
wednesday morning we got the shuttle from the hotel to the airport where most everything went to schedule
we got a taxi home last night (our bags were so heavy!!)
and james is back to work today
i am back in tomorrow, which is great
because i have about 5 more loads of laundry to do!
our trip was amazing
and i am so lucky to have a such a good husband who wants to take me places
and puts up with me while we are there :)
i loved japan
i loved everything about it
and i cant wait to go back!
